How do I book a place ?
Its simple, just ring us on 01670818288 (sometimes answer machine) or email us at [email protected] and give us details of you and your pup, we will add you to the list for the course of your choice.
When is your next course due to start?
We publish the course start dates on our Home Page on this website and usually start a new course every 6th week.
How long does the course last?
Each course lasts for 5 weeks, you will attend for one, hour long, class per week. Everyone joins and finishes the course at the same time.
How old does my pup need to be before attending ?
12 weeks up to 10 months (they must be vaccinated).
My dog is not a puppy ?
Must be under 10 months old to attend this course
What do I need to bring with me to the class ?
You will need to bring your puppy wearing a flat buckle collar and a strong short leather or webbing lead or a rope slip lead (we do not recommend body harnesses), poo bags, a pocket full of small tasty treats and pups favourite small toy, the course fee
Do you only train German Shepherds ?
No, we train all breeds and cross breeds.
What do we do in the class ?
You will teach your pup a new exercise each week, including walk to heel, walk calmly past other dogs and people, sit on command, lie down on command, stay, come back when called, retrieve a toy. There are also controlled play sessions where the pups can socialize with each other. Most importantly, you will learn how to communicate effectively with your pup to create a happy, obedient best friend.
What training methods do you use ?
Every dog is different, therefore, training methods are adapted for each individual dog. We use reward based training and encourage the use of treats and toys, we use verbal commands and positive body language.
Can the rest of the family come along ?
Yes, they can sit and watch you train or you can take turns in handling your pup. Children under 12 years old must be supervised by an adult.
Will my pup be fully trained after the course ?
No, training should continue throughout your pups life. You will be well on your way to having an obedient pup after your 5 week course but you will need to continue training at home, we recommend a ten minute training session each day, in the house or garden or while out for a walk. There is a continuation class available for everyone that has completed a puppy course.
My dog doesn't like other dogs can I bring him to socialise in the classes ?
No, all dogs must be friendly with each other to encourage a relaxed training atmosphere, and to ensure young puppies are not frightened
